About the project
The Argentinian Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity, in collaboration with the UN’s CEPAL/ECLAC seek the visibility of care givers across the country and make their information available to those who need special attention like infants, peoples with all kinds of disability and the elders.
Why were we hired?
The organizations required an interactive and accesible map app to display “Care Spaces”: nursing homes, daycare centers, job banks, special ed schools and others in Argentina.

Challenges
We employed our expertise and creativity to make the map app as accessible as possible for all users, including visually impaired users and added features going beyond initial specs as they were requested. In the process we developed bespoke features not previously present in any implementations of our chosen mapping library.
How have we worked?
After a period of deep UX research that underwent several iterations, the design and development teams worked hand in hand to bring the app to life, all while coordinating datasets with the CEPAL team and validating data.:
As the first stage of the project we engaged in research and a first version of the map, with only the most fundamental features. On a second stage, we iterated on the existing app based on user feedback and further research, which involved developing new features and serving a new target audience.:
The solution
"A responsive and accessible progressive web app that fulfilled all requirements and then some, including location cards, directions, search, filtering, categories, tags and data clustering for high performance and data readability.
"We optimized Mapbox integration with Angular to create a design that allows users to easily and quickly locate care spaces anywhere in the country, as well as get directions to them in various modes of transportation, including an estimate for the time to arrive.
Thanks to our extremely robust database using GeoJSON we achieved a search and filtering system to narrow down searches with various criteria. Development was modular, allowing us to add or remove target audiences or categories in the future.
Integrating our PWA to an opt-in geolocation service we are able to further aid users in finding the care spaces they need.
